Mobile Testers Guide to the Galaxy [link]

The world of testing mobile apps has extended to a galaxy of different platforms and concerns we need to consider if we want to understand the entire eco-system. Developerså have had the Mobile Developer’s Guide and the Parallel Guide to help them learn about developing and marketing their apps. The time has come to help you understand how to test your mobile apps. We will cover key testing challenges across the universe of mobile operating systems, web and native apps, app stores and even mobile analytics. Good Interactive and Automated testing complement each other as we navigate through the galaxy so we will include tips and advice on both.

Too Big to be neglected: test data

This presentation is about qualities that help testers and test managers to be and stay ready for the future. A Doctor Who video fragment is used to demonstrate how you can be successful without being a control freak. Also, some simple, yet very powerful techniques are shown to support the ideas.

An important requisite for Continuous Delivery is having test automation. I designed a test automation strategy for software integration projects, using FitNesse and Test-Driven Development. My strategy was validated and improved during a case study. This talk discusses continuous delivery, the designed strategy and the findings of the case study.

Successful test data management requires; combination of good test cases and test data, along with the proper usage of tools to help automating extraction, transformation and governance of the data being used. Through the session, years of testing experiences will be shared and key facts and their consequences will be underlined.

This talk reports our experiences and insights gained from investigating the application of model-based-testing using SpecExplorer in case of systems with complex data in the healthcare domain. We share empirical results obtained from our experiments in using constraint-based-testing to overcome the obstacle of complex systems having data cross-dependencies.

How to integrate & test high tech systems in 2020 [pdf]
Proactive security testing: the evolution of pen testing   Testers must play in the Champions league: the pre-requisites [pdf]

System Integration and Test is a key activity when developing high-tech systems. It requires architectural thinking, focus on risks, etcetera. This presentation provides a framework to look at business, architectural, process and organization aspects. The framework is applied to introduce and discuss about integration and test challenges in 2020.

New risk scenarios emerge daily. Detecting vulnerabilities is the first step to contain and eradicate them. During this speech overview of how to perform security tests in the current ICT landscape is given; facing the challenges introduced by new technologies, like virtualization, mobile devices, social networking, compliancy with Laws, regulations, and standards.

The amount and the weight of the testing work is increasing rapidly. Are testers prepared to handle these challenges? To handle the challenges, the Dutch Testing Society started a working party to develop a training for testers on an academic level. In this presentation the results till now are explained.

No ontwikkelaars en testers toekomstige gebruikers, no glory. Zonder ontwikkelaars en testers toekomstige gebruikers blijft het aanrommelen.

We get challenged by all sorts of problems, like unstable test environments, unclear documentation or missing test strategies. Luckily for us, it seems we are very capable of dealing with them. But are we? This presentation will show you a new way of solving our problems – by solving them without solving them!

With the idea of an internal test competition, we found an approach for cost-effective pre-launch testing (while avoiding the need for Non-Disclosure Agreements and training sessions), by combining different testing techniques: crowd testing, session-based testing, test competition and exploratory testing, into a single customized technique.

Visual Software Analytics – Getting insight into Large-System Maintenance [pdf]
  Your passion starts today [pdf]
No quality mobile apps without testing in production [pdf]

Large software systems contain millions of lines of code, developed by tens of software engineers over years. This generates large amounts of “Big Data” which can provide crucial insights for decision-making in maintenance, if analyzed efficiently and effectively. In this talk, we present several visual tools that assist the exploration and interpretation of such datasets, and present examples of their use in the real-world IT industry.

In this fun track, René Tuinhout will show which testing techniques are subconsciously used successfully when people date, and he will show why successful male and female testers are successful daters: Because of their capable use of the testing techniques.

Testing in the production (TiP) is validating the app behavior in real world conditions. The taboo on TiP should be removed so it becomes clear why testing in production is required and what different types of TiP are possible. This crucial step enables your development team to deliver quality mobile apps.
